Jalpaibon is designer Soma Banerjee’s brainchild that took shape in 2019. Armed with long twelve years’ experience of working in the fashion industry, which includes prominent fashion houses in Kolkata, she finally ventured into creating her clothing brand. Jalpaibon is nurtured with her childhood memories of Jalpaiguri, a foothill town of West Bengal, and her deep passion for styling, fashion and designing. Jalpaibon is a story of self-discovery as well as nostalgia. When you acquire a piece of Jalpaibon’s apparels, you become a part of both its journey and its story.

At Jalpaibon, circularity is a conscious commitment to the planet. What began in 2025 as a small zero-waste experiment – focusing on scrap collection, segregation, and eco-friendly packaging – evolved into its own dedicated product line (explore here). By creating small-batch exclusive designs and partnering directly with Bengal’s weavers and artisans, we blend historic crafts with sustainable practices to ensure our heritage thrives responsibly.
